Is there an import function to set up our dogs?

Yes, you can import a CSV file. However, I am finding a few issues with it working in the trial version. It imports fine, but does not allow you to drag and drop those dogs onto a pedigree. I am working on a fix.

Are there instructions on how to do CSV imports someplace? I couldn't find anything in the help menu.

CSV import is located on the Customize tab under "Company Info". Click on "Import Dogs From CSV" and follow the instructions.

Uh oh. I just imported my database of over 5500 dogs and trying to update pedigrees for the dogs owned by me is taking a super long time. Really bad lag time where it will take me over 30 minutes to update one dog. Any ideas?

Never experienced a lag. Are you saying as you are trying to build the pedigrees for each dog it is taking a long time?

What files is this referring to? Is it talking about files from a different program?

Yes, trying to build pedigrees is taking a VERY long time. Peggy, these are my Breeders Assistant dogs that I imported to BreederZoo.

I just imported 7000 dogs and was able to build the pedigrees just fine. My guess is this is a computer issue?

How do we get all of our Dogs from Breeders assistant on to a CSV file? We currently have all of our Breeder Assistant Dogs on a PC Laptop, but we only used that lap top for Breeder's Assistant. Do I need to transfer them via a portable USB hard drive to this computer first?

Like HClark said, is there anyway you can send out some step by step instructions? I have a feeling we won't be the only ones asking! It may be helpful!

Thank you!

Need to clarify a bit - Breeders Assistant is on a PC which we only used for BA. All my other computers that we are using for BZ are Apples. I want to move all the dogs from BA to BZ. Is the difference in type of computer an issue in this transfer?
Is it possible to get a step by step instruction on how to accomplish a transfer of a CSV file? (I don't even know what a CSV file is!!) Help please!

It doesn't matter whether you are on a MAC or PC. A csv file works cross platform. You will have to contact BA as to how to export your BA database to a csv. I believe you just to go file/export. You can just email the csv to your mac. On the BZ end all you do is go to customize/company info/import dogs as csv/choose the csv file from your computer you want to import / choose the fields / click import / Save. Hope this helps:)

Okay, well were half way there! I went ahead and downloaded all of the files, but they downloaded super strange! It has the name of the dog listed as the Breed and other than that it really didn't transfer any other information other than the Gender. Is there a way to fix this in bulk?

It's sounds like when you imported, the BA fields were not matched to the BZ fields. BZ give you the option to be sure fields are matched correctly before import. I don't know of a way to fix it in bulk. I'll pop a text to my to my IT guy to see if he has any ideas. You may have to set up a time with my IT guy to take a look at it. He charges $75 per incident.

Would the speed improve if I go with the multiple device option and have it hosted elsewhere?
