Love, love, love your program! When will the version be available that allows sharing the data base with more than one computer? I would love to be able to work on it on both laptops and desk top computer!

So glad you like it! Technically, the current version you have will work on iPad, iPhone, or another computer. The newer version I am working on has password protection built-in for a server. I personally would wait for that version. The easiest type of server option is a virtual server. You just sign up with a company like Triple8.net or Worldcloud and they host your database in the cloud. That is what makes it accessible from any device. You just need the mother program (Filemaker Pro) installed on that device or computer. So if you just want BreederZOO on your iPad you would sign up with triple8 (or similar service) Download the FilemakerGo app and connect to your database server. Your purchase of BreederZOO includes one Filemaker Pro license for one year. One Filemaker license works on one computer and your iPad/iPhone (iPad and iPhone connections are free) If you plan on running BreederZOO on more that one computer you will need a second Filemaker Pro license ($65). Since I am a Filemaker Business Alliance member, I am able to buy the licenses in bulk and offer them to you guys at a fraction of the cost. You can also upgrade to BreederZOO Server (you would just pay the price difference). BreederZOO Server is BreederZOO + Filemaker Server. Filemaker Server is an upgrade that allow a database (like BreederZOO) to be loaded onto a dedicated server. A dedicated server is a single computer (in your home) in a network reserved for serving the needs of the network. For example, some networks require that one computer be set aside to manage communications between all the other computers. That computer can only be used as a server. You would still need hosting from an outside company like triple8, but you wouldn't need a virtual server since you would have your own. Does that make sense? The benefit of a dedicated server is it is faster than a virtual server. The downside is, it is more expensive and more complicated to get up and running.

Going to have to read that about 20 times to digest it! I have two computers, ipad, and iPhone in my home and another computer in Lady Lake. So I need to figure out what will work from two different "addresses". We have entered about 600 dogs, so want to be able to access them from all places.

How many people will be on one given computer/iPad at a time? My guess is only 1 to 2 people. I still think you would be fine with a virtual server. If I were you, I would try that first. Once you have your BreederZOO database uploaded to your server, all you have to do is have FileMaker Pro on the other computers. You don't need to install BreederZOO on each computer since your BreederZOO database lives in the cloud. From your previous post it sounds like you would need two extra FileMaker Pro licenses if you wanted every computer to have the database on it.

You can also make an appointment with my IT guy and have him help you get it set up. His prices are extremely reasonable.

Yes, maybe two people on at a time. Yes would want to be able to access the database from all computers. Sounds like an appointment with your IT guy is in my future! Yes, would need 3 total FileMaker pro licenses.

Christy,
Since my trial period ends Dec. 18th, are you going to send us something to sign up? Should I purchase 3 FileMaker pro licenses now? If so, how do I do it?
As you suggested, I would like to have the new version that you are working on now. But don't know what to do and when. Also do NOT want to loose all the info I have entered. Please help!
