Data entry with keyboard vs mouse

One thing I am struggling with is I am very proficient at data entry and typically use my keyboard to accomplish it rather than the mouse. The navigation in BZ seems to be different from most programs. (i.e. tab doesn't always move curser to the next field to populate, arrow down and enter to select doesn't always populate a field). Any helpful pointers from others to be able to use the keyboard more efficiently for the data entry?
