Zip Code vs Postal Code

I'm in Canada and we have 6 Digits/Letters for our postal codes. In the USA the ZIP code is only 5 digits. When I enter addresses in the my contacts, and enter the 6 digit postal code, it then shows up as a '?' . So it doesn't save the Postal Code in the entry. It will show the numbers if I only enter 5 numbers. Can this be fixed?
