After adding a record and then hit save. My date comes up as ?

I click on the calendar and add a date on any record that I am adding. When I click on save. To save what I have entered. Let say a health record. When it save the date comes up a ?. When I re open the file the date still says ? Is there some way to have this fixed. It is a pain trying to figure out the day month year order that the program likes. I am on a Mac.

I am not on MAC and I have the same problem. I can manually put the date in month/day/year, but cannot use that calendar feature. This is a pain
